Highway 8 bridge reopens to local traffic

MERRITT — Good news for residents in the Lower Nicola area.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has confirmed the Lower Nicola Bridge, located 10 kilometres west of Merritt, will be reopened to single lane alternating traffic starting at 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.

“The bridge will be open to local vehicle traffic only, no pedetrians or bicycles are permitted at this time,” says the TNRD.

Motorists are asked to minimize their trips and to expect delays of 30 to 45 minutes.
