RAW VIDEO: Highway 8 reopens near Merritt

MERRITT — Good news for motorists in the Merritt area.

Highway 8 has reopened to single lane alternating traffic after being closed due to a washout 10 kilometres west of the Merritt bridge earlier this week.

According to Drive BC, pedestrians, bicycles and motorcycles are not permitted to cross Merritt bridge at this time and will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to locals and 24-hour emergency service will still be available as safety permits.

Motorists should be prepared for unexpected delays and closures, and are reminded to watch for crews working and monitoring on site.
