KELOWNA — West Kelowna Fire Rescue crews had to use ropes and harnesses to get a couple of stranded hikers down from the east side of Mt. Boucherie last evening.

The pair had been hiking since about 1 p.m. when they wound up off a trail and couldn’t go up or down the mountain and called for help on a cell phone.

Firefighters were able to lower the hikers back to the trail and then walked them out about ten last evening.

West Kelowna Fire Rescue reminds hikers to stick to marked trails and always be prepared for the conditions they may encounter.
