KAMLOOPS — Two of the most vocal groups may get the first crack at transforming the former McArthur Island golf course property.

City of Kamloops staff have sifted through more than 1,300 survey responses, and are recommending they work with the Kamloops Naturalist Club and the Kamloops Disc Golf Club to come up with a concept plan.

Leaving the land as a natural, passive area was the most popular survey response, and that caters to the Naturalist Club’s proposals.

In making the recommendation, staff are also asking council for $35,000 for site cleanup and safety, as well as upgrades to a storage compound.
