VICTORIA —  Elections B-C has approved a petition application aimed at cancelling the nearly 11-billion dollar Site C dam project near Fort St. John.

Under the province’s Recall and Initiative Act, any registered voter can apply to have a petition issued to gather support for a legislative proposal.

Starting July 3rd, the petitioner has 90 days to collect the signatures of at least 10 per cent of registered voters in all 87 B-C ridings.

Construction on the dam began in summer 2015 and Premier John Horgan has said his government plans to complete the project.
