KAMLOOPS — You may have already noticed that with the warmer weather, road construction projects have started popping up all over the city.

CFJC Today caught up with Darren Crundwell, Capital Projects Manager for the City of Kamloops to find out what road rehabilitation crews have on their plates this spring and summer.

Right now the most obvious road work zone is on Lansdowne Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues, but Crundwell says there are several more projects throughout the city of Kamloops which are ready to get going in the very near future.

“We do have several projects out right now,” Crundwell explained. “Lansdowne, from 3rd to 4th [Avenues], we just started River Road. We’re going to start McGill Road from Hillside Drive to Bunker Road, Lac Le Jeune Road.”

Crundwell says while it may appear there are some areas which need some work throughout Kamloops, he says there’s a reason the city waits to undertake certain road rehab projects.

“It may seem like we take a little bit longer rebuilding a road, and the public has to deal with potholes or a failing road structure, but we do try and time as best we can, all the utility work. Replacement of water, sewer, storm with the road project.”
