WolfPack lose two close ones in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – After going 4-0 last weekend, The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team had a tough start to this weekend, losing both their games Saturday to the Prairie Baseball Dawgs in Lethbridge. Game one was a wild one as the ‘Pack lost 15-14. The ‘Pack then got walked-off in game two, losing 7-6.

Tyler Hodder (Fort McMurray, AB) started game one for TRU. He tossed six innings, allowing 10 runs (5 earned) on nine hits, three walks and two hit batters. He also struck out three batters. Qwinn Nesplak (White Rock, BC) suffered the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on two hits, a walk and a hit batter in an inning and a third. Scott Wood (Stratford, ON) threw 2/3 of an inning, striking out one batter.

Vance Fode (Bow Island, AB) came to play on Saturday for the WolfPack. In game one, he went 3-4 with a double, a home run, five RBIs, three runs scored and a walk. Cole Paquin (Regina, SK) went 3-5 with a RBI. Liam Rihela (White Rock, BC) finished 3-4 with three runs scored, two walks and a stolen base. Josh Snider (Moses Lake, WA) went 2-5 with a RBI and two runs scored. Connor McKenzie (Kamloops, BC) had a RBI single and finished 1-5. Matt Pidlisecky (Abbotsford, BC) finished 2-4 with three runs scored and a walk.

Tyler Moskalyk (Thunder Bay, ON) threw a complete game but suffered the loss in game two. He allowed seven runs (five earned) on 11 hits. He struck out five batters.

Vance Fode added another three RBIs in game two, finishing 3-5. Josiah Williams (Cloverdale, BC) went 1-3 with a two-RBI single and a walk. Josh HIllis (Calgary, AB) and Josh Iannetti (Fort McMurray, AB) both went 2-4 with a run scored. Hillis also had a stolen base. Josh Snider went 1-4 with a double, a run scored and a walk. Matt Pidlisecky and Nick Bolt (Brooks, AB) each had a base hit. Liam Rihela collected a RBI on a bases-loaded walk.

The WolfPack are hoping to get back in the win column Sunday as they take on the PBA Dawgs once again. Game times are 11am and 2pm.

Following this weekend’s games, the WolfPack return home to entertain the Okanagan College Coyotes on Wednesday, April 24th at Norbrock Stadium.  Game times Wednesday will be 3 pm and 7 pm.
