Premier says more supply needed to combat high gas prices

KAMLOOPS — As B.C. drivers deal with the high price at the pump, Premier John Horgan says the province is in need of more supply to meet demand.

Horgan, speaking at TRU in Kamloops earlier this week, addressed gas affordability in the wake of the carbon tax increase on April 1.

He says the cost of gasoline spiked long before the carbon tax increase, and says it’s a direct result of a lack of supply.

“I believe if we spent a fraction of the time arguing about a pipeline, and put that time into building a refinery so that we could use B.C. or Canada’s natural resources to meet the needs of Canadians we’d be far better off,” Horgan said.
