Prescribed burn scheduled for Kenna Cartwright Park

KAMLOOPS — Yet another sign the wildfire season is upon us as a prescribed burn is slated to take place in Kenna Cartwright Park soon.

A partnership between the City of Kamloops, the BC Wildfire Service and a contractor, the burning will be on the north side of the park between Ridge Trail and Lower Doug Daws mountain bike trail, just east of the pond.

The city says existing trails, roads, and a sprinkler system will act as fire boundaries to contain the burn and a “black line” will be put in along the eastern boundary where there are no existing roads or natural fire guards.

A black line consists of a controlled burn strip that prevents fire from spreading.
