Hicketts adds another assist in Detroit win

KAMLOOPS — Joe Hicketts built on his first NHL helpers by adding another assist on Thursday night in Detroit’s 6-3 win in Buffalo.

The 21 year old picked up the assist on Anthony Mantha’s 24th goal of the season to give the Red Wings a 3-2 lead.

Hicketts has quickly gained the trust of head coach Jeff Blashill, who gave him 19:20 of ice time in his third NHL game. It was the second most among all Detroit defenseman. He also had five minutes of power play time.

The Kamloops product now has three assists in three games with the big club following his two-assist performance, his first NHL points, on Tuesday against Pittsburgh.
