Police investigate weekend robberies at gunpoint in the Shuswap

SHUSWAP LAKE — Chase RCMP are investigating a situation that developed in the Squilax-Lee Creek area in the Shuswap over the weekend.

Two men with guns allegedly had stopped a minivan Saturday evening and held the occupants at gunpoint while they took items from the van.

They took off in an SUV, and the occupants of the van that was robbed also left the scene.

While heading to the scene, police got a report of another driver being stopped by the same SUV with flashing blue lights. The gunman told the driver of this second vehicle it was the wrong SUV and took off.

Police patrols didn’t turn up any suspects, but early Sunday morning, police were called to a vehicle fire in the 1600 block of Little Shuswap Road at Lee Creek.
