Work set to resume on Peterson Creek Multi-Use Path

KAMLOOPS — After the long snowy winter, work is about to pick back up for the Peterson Creek Multi-Use Pathway.

Work was intended to begin on the path connecting Summit Drive to downtown Kamloops last summer, with the hopes of completing the first phase of the project in May.

Due to wildfire danger in the park work couldn’t begin until fall. That delay, coupled with a harsher than expected winter, has pushed the completion date to June.

Extreme Excavating Ltd. is expected to begin construction again on the $3.35 million path this week or next depending on weather conditions.

“So what they did in the fall was mostly earthworks,” said project manager Liam Baker, “which you can see from the highway … They did do some of the retaining wall construction before winter set in, but they didn’t finish that so they will be finishing the retaining walls first, and then finishing up some earthworks, and then getting on to lighting, and electrical work, and then paving, things like that.”
