KAMLOOPS — Sports can be cruel.

The Westsyde Whundas lost 61-50 to King George in the semifinals at the B.C. boys double "AA" basketball championships in Langley.

It was a heartbreaking loss for the Whundas, who up until now had been undefeated this season, going 33-and-0.

The loss ends the dream of a provincial championship and will leave the Whundas playing for 3rd and 4th place.

Earlier the South Kam Titans defeated Pitt Meadows 65-59 to reach the triple "AAA" final for the second year in a row.

A year after losing to Rick Hansen in the final South Kam will play Byrne Creek from Burnaby in Saturday's final in Langley.

Byrne Creek came into the tournament seeded number one with South Kam number two.
