Another closure on the Coquihalla Highway

MERRITT — UPDATE- As of 7:30 AM, Coquihalla Highway has reopened.

There is a travel advisory out on the section from Hope to Merritt, and drivers are advised to use extreme caution this morning if traveling that section of highway.

There is blowing snow, snow and lots of icy sections on the road this morning.

The weather is expected to clear up later today.

EARLIER—Another day of frustration for drivers heading to the coast.

Heavy snowfall has resulted in the Coquihalla Highway being closed from Hope to Merritt.

The closure went into effect late last night after a number of vehicles spun out and semis jackknifed, mostly in the area around the snowshed hill.

The highway is expected to reopen around 7:00 AM. Highways crews are continuing their assessment.

A snowfall warning remains in effect for the Coquihalla from Hope to Merritt this morning.

The snowfall should end later this morning, paving the way for clearing conditions and sunny skies tomorrow.
