Blazers drop another point in wild card

KAMLOOPS — The Blazers lost 5-4 to the Vancouver Giants on Saturday night to fall seven points back of a wild card with five games left.  The Giants took a 4-0 lead before the Blazers rallied on goals by Joe Gatenby with his 13th, Jermaine Loewen’s 34th and Luc Smith’s 20th of the season.   After Vancouver went in front 5-3 Nolan Kneen with his 6th got the Blazers back to within one in the third.    Dylan Ferguson stopped 17 of 20 shots, while Max Palaga was good on 4 of 6.   Joe Gatenby had a goal and three assists was named the games first start.   The loss cost the Blazers another point in the wild card standings with Seattle picking up point in an overtime loss to Everett, leaving the Blazers trailing Seattle by seven points for the final wild card.  The Blazers will wrap up the season with a home and away against Kelowna next weekend, at home to Vancouver on Wednesday, March14 and then finish off home and away against Prince George March 16 and 17.
