WolfPack get in the win column taking two from Grand Canyon

MESA, ARIZONA – The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Baseball team is in the win column down in Arizona. Friday, they took two games from the Grand Canyon Antelopes club team, winning 12-1 and 3-2.

The bats exploded in the first game. Four players collected multi-hit games in game one, including Jackson Dartnell (Winnipeg, MB), who went 2-4 with two RBIs, three runs scored and a walk. Josh Iannetti (Fort McMurray, AB) and Matt Pidlisecky (Abbotsford, BC) both went 2-5 with a run scored. Iannetti drove in two runs. Lucas Lott (Kamloops, BC) went 2-3 with a run scored. Nick Peters (Maple Ridge, BC) collected two RBIs on his base hit in the seventh inning. Kyron Smith (Maple Ridge, BC) had a double, collected a RBI and scored a run. Vance Fode (Bow Island, AB) collected a RBI.

Tyler Moskalyk (Thunder Bay, ON) earned the win in game one, throwing four innings, not giving up a run on four hits and a walk. He struck out nine batters. Josh Hillis (Calgary, AB), Cole Paquin (Regina, SK) and Bryant Jameus (Kamloops, BC) all threw an inning in relief. The four pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts.

Left-hander Scott Wood (Stratford, ON) started game two on the mound, throwing five innings. He allowed one unearned run on three hits while striking out six. Outfielder Jordy Cunningham (Ladner, BC) has to come in to the game in pitch and collected the win, throwing three innings, also allowing one unearned run. Cole Paquin earned the save in the ninth inning, striking out the side.
