WolfPack Women’s Rugby 7’s struggle in opening day of tournament

ABBOTSFORD, B.C.— It was a tough baptism for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s rugby sevens.

Playing in their first Canada West tournament, Thompson Rivers lost all four of their matches in the opening day of the Abbotsford event.

TRU opened with a 27-15 defeat at the hands of the host University of Fraser Valley Cascades. Grace Campbell, Anna Morrish and Madison Petonjic-Rogers had the trys for the WolfPack.

Later, the Pack would lose  67-0 to the UVIC Vikes, 50-0 to the UBC Thunderbirds and 57-0 to the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.

TRU will meet Alberta Pandas at 9:25 AM  and the Calgary Dinos at 12:20 pm to close out the tourney.

Women’s rugby seven’s are on a one year trial period with Thompson Rivers. They have one more tournament later this month at UVIC.
