KAMLOOPS — An antitheft device helped police recover a stolen vehicle and trailer in 70 Mile House this week.

South East District RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says the Clinton RCMP received a complaint out of the 70 Mile House area Tuesday morning of an overnight theft of a white 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck and a black 2014 utility dump trailer with a red quad ATV on it.

“The truck was equipped with On-Star, who disabled the truck at police request and provided its location to responding RCMP officers,” he says. “Clinton RCMP officers located the truck and trailer abandoned on 83 Mile Road with no apparent damage, however the quad was missing. With the assistance of the 100 Mile House RCMP the quad was tracked and located abandoned on a local property.”

Moskaluk says all stolen items were recovered and turned over to the owner with evidence collected to help identify those responsible.
