RIH opens new clinic for quick access to specialists

KAMLOOPS — A new clinic at Royal Inland Hospital has opened with the goal of helping patients receive specialist care more quickly.

Interior Health is touting the Rapid Access Clinic as a new option for those who don’t need an overnight hospital stay, but need to be evaluated by a specialist in short order.

IH Board Chair Doug Cochrane says until now, these type of patients would need to be admitted to hospital.

Patients using the Rapid Access Clinic will still need a referral from a doctor or nurse practitioner.
