KAMLOOPS — It was Chyzowski family night at the Sandman Center, as brothers Nick, captain of the Kamloops Blazers, and Ryan of the Medicine Hat Tigers met for the final time in their junior careers.

While Nick is playing out his overage season, 17-year old Ryan is making an impact with Medicine Hat.

But on this night it was older brother Nick who would make the impact in a Blazers 3-1 win.

Luc Smith banged in a rebound for his 16th of the season late in the first period to give Kamloops a 1-0 lead.

Medicine Hat would tie it on the power play on Elijah Brown’s rebound goal in the second.

Nick Chyzowski would then start the play that would finish with Luke Zazula firing up the middle on a partial screen on a 5-on-4 early in the third to break a 1-1 tie.

Jermaine Loewen added the insurance with his 24th of the season.

Dylan Ferguson was good on 36 saves as Medicine Hat outshot Kamloops 37-35.

The win was the Blazers sixth in the last seven games, and moves them to within six points of the second wild card in the Western Conference.
