Armstrong couple shaken by assault

KAMLOOPS — A man is in custody in connection with an alleged assault on his parents in their Armstrong home.

Vernon Rural RCMP members were called to the home just before 8 Tuesday night by a woman who said she and her husband were being attacked by their adult son.

When officers arrived they found the 62 year old woman and her 71 year old husband outside, visibly shaken and upset.

They alleged they were assaulted and threatened with a loaded crossbow.

When police went into the home they discovered the suspect had run out the back.

Police dog “Dash” was called in and with its handler, Corporal Richard Gingras, tracked the suspect through many neighbouring yards, over fences and eventually finding him hiding in a yard.

A 32 year old man is facing possible charges of two counts of assault and assault with a weapon.

The couple was treated for minor injuries and referred to victim services.
