VICTORIA —  Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth says this morning’s tsunami warning reveals that B-C’s tsunami warning systems work well.

Farnworth issued a statement following the cancellation of a tsunami warning.

Emergency plans were activated after the 7.9-magnitude quake hit off Alaska at about 1.30.

Farnworth says, in the event of any future tsunami warning, residents should stay calm, stay safe, listen to local officials and head to higher ground. (The Canadian Press)
