KAMLOOPS — A pedestrian received minor injuries after being hit by a vehicle making a turn at 6th and Victoria downtown last night.

RCMP Sergeant Brandon Buliziuk says the incident happened about 7:00 PM.

An 18-year old female was crossing Victoria Street in the crosswalk when she was hit by the vehicle, which was negotiating a turn.

Police say the woman was taken to hospital to be checked over, but appeared to receive only minor injuries.

Buliziuk says the driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. He says after the investigation, the driver was not charged with any offence.

Sergeant Buliziuk says even when in crosswalks, pedestrians have to be extra vigilant, especially at night, and drivers also have to take precautions to ensure noone is in the crosswalk if they're making a turn.
