KAMLOOPS — More details have been revealed following Wednesday’s tragic Highway 97 crash near Lac La Hache that killed one person.

Cst. Mike Halskov with Cariboo-Chilcotin Regional Traffic Services says it’s been determined that a southbound logging truck in the fast lane was overtaking another semi truck in the slow lane when their trailers made contact.

As a result, he says the trailer of the logging truck jack-knifed into the north bound lanes hitting a north bound vehicle.

“The driver of the north bound vehicle was deceased at the scene. A youth who was a passenger in the northbound vehicle was transported to hospital with minor injuries. Neither driver the semi trucks involved were injured.”
