KAMLOOPS — Update: Police say all lanes of Tranquille and Eighth Street are now open to motorists only. Pedestrians are still being steered away from the area.

Earlier: A suspected gas leak is causing traffic headaches on the North Shore.

Kamloops RCMP say they’ve closed both lanes of Tranquille between Eighth and Ninth Streets to both pedestrians and motorists. Eighth is closed to pedestrians.

Police confirm Penny Pinchers, located at the corner of Eight and Tranquille, experienced “a structural problem and until it is confirmed that the natural gas lines were not compromised,” traffic will continue to be diverted from the area.
