KAMLOOPS — The Province is filing a lawsuit against the company that operates Kamloops Seniors Village for an incident that resulted in the death of one of its residents.

In July of 2015, 84-year-old Emily Houston was punched and pushed by another resident. She died ten days later.

The resident who attacked Houston was known to wander and had previously occupied the victim’s room.

Houston’s death was deemed a homicide, however an RCMP investigation determined the person responsible did not have the mental capacity to support criminal charges.
