KAMLOOPS — Sicamous man Bradley Garbutt has been charged with one count of attempted extortion.

Few details have been released though Mounties say the charge follows a “fulsome” investigation by police and follows a complaint made last September.

“Garbutt is alleged to have attempted to extort money from the owner of a local marina in Sicamous,” says Sicamous RCMP Sgt. M.H. McNeil. “A warrant was issued for Garbutt’s arrest. He was arrested without incident in Richmond on December 23, 2017.”

Garbutt has been released on conditions which include a requirement to have no contact with the owners of the marina and not to attend the business. He will appear in court January 30 in Salmon Arm.
