KAMLOOPS — Thompson Rivers University is now officially home to the BC Interior’s first genomics laboratory.

Officials cut the ribbon on TRUGen this morning, the first high-throughput genomics lab in the province outside the Lower Mainland.

The lab was launched with the help of $750,000 in funding from upper levels of government.

Associate Professor of Microbiology Jonathan Van Hamme says the lab will specialize in genetic research to boost possibilities for agricultural and environmental remediation.
