KAMLOOPS — The provincial government has announced an independent review of this year’s unparalleled wildfire and flood seasons.

“2017 was the worst fire season in recent memory,” said Premier John Horgan. “We also had unprecedented floods this spring that have often been forgotten as a result of the record-setting fire season which devastated communities and displaced tens of thousands of people.”

The review will be chaired by former BC Liberal Shuswap MLA George Abbott and Maureen Chapman, Heriditary Chief of the Skawahlook First Nation, and will examine all aspects of the province’s response to the floods and wildfires of 2017.

The team will deliver its report before April 30, 2018.
