King Tide set to hit Vancouver

VANCOUVER —     Metro Vancouver municipalities are preparing for flooding ahead of a King Tide this week.

The seasonal King Tide — that occurs when the moon is closest to the earth — can be about a metre higher in elevation than a normal high tide.

A 2014 King Tide resulted in the city of Delta calling a state of emergency when large waves breached parts of the seawall.

Sandbags have been installed in Delta and the city of Vancouver before the tide rolls in between Tuesday and Saturday. (Global)
