Kamloops Mountie says thanks to Campbell Creek residents

KAMLOOPS — The off-duty Kamloops RCMP officer responsible for helping capture the suspect in two break and enters in Campbell Creek earlier this month is thanking residents in the neighbourhood for their support.

Media Relations Officer Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the officer isn’t being named “to support the privacy and safety of the family” and because the case is before the courts.

“However, this officer with 16 years of service thanks his neighbours for their support and feels that since the incident, the community has become even closer,” said Shelkie in a news release.

An arrest was eventually made, but Shelkie says the officer is also encouraging people not to take matters into their own hands.
