KAMLOOPS — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) will not be pursuing charges in a Williams Lake incident they were called in to investigate last year.

The incident occurred on June 19, 2016, when the Williams Lake RCMP responded to a complaint of a man who was allegedly intoxicated at a bus stop on 7th Avenue North.

Three officers attended the scene and during the course of the arrest the man suffered broken cheek bones on the left side of his face. The IIO was notified by the RCMP of the case early the next morning.

The injured man alleged excessive force was used during the arrest but the IIO ruled that was not the case.
