KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Operation Red Nose had a steady opening weekend.

Spokesperson Katie Klassen says the safe ride home volunteer service provided 30 rides on Friday and 67 on Saturday.

"Opening weekends are always a little bit quieter," said Klassen. "We're expecting demand to ramp up next weekend when Christmas partys pick up."

Klassen says eight teams of drivers were on the road Friday and ten on Saturday

She says 12 to 15 will be out next weekend to keep up with demand.

Her advice to Christmas celebrators needing a ride home?

"Make sure you call well ahead," said Klassen. "Our busiest time is between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. when wait times can be from 45 minutes to an hour, so give plenty of time for us to pick up you and your vehicle."

Those needing a ride are asked to call 250-372-5110.
