Trans Canada closed near Hope-and more snow coming to the Coquihalla

KAMLOOPS — Another day of crazy weather in the forecast. Yet another snowfall warning has been issued for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt. 

Up to 15 centimeters of the white stuff is expected to fall today, and another 15 centimters are forecast for tonight. 

The heavy snow should ease by tomorrow morning, but there will still be some snow falling through much of Friday.

In addition to that, the Trans Canada Highway is closed just west of Hope this morning (as of 6:00 AM). A mudslide has shut down the road. 

An assessment is ongoing, but the road is expected to be closed for a bit yet. Check the Drive B.C. link on the CFJC Today home page for ongoing updates.

You can detour around the slide site by taking Highway 7 from Hope and then cutting back onto the Trans Canada at Agassiz.
