KAMLOOPS — There's a new face atop the Cariboo Regional District board table.

Electoral Area "H" Director Margo Wagner (Canim Lake-Forest Grove) was acclaimed chair at last Friday's monthly public board meeting.

Noting it was "a great honour" to take over from previous chair Al Richmond, she still thought "it was time for a change" adding it's time to work towards a "more cohesive board."

"We're not quite as cohesive as we used to be....I'd just like us to move closely together than we have been lately."

Wagner says her vision moving forward is also to move forward in the face of last summer's devastating wildfire season.

"To continue to try to get recovery, both economically, socially, tourism-wise and mentally. To keep that on the straight and narrow."

She says she consulted with Richmond, who held the position for nine years, before allowing her name to come forward.

"He did a great job. I have the greatest respect for him. I certainly would not be the director today if not for his mentoring."
