B100’s Basics for Babies a big success

KAMLOOPS — 1,500 pounds of food and nearly $50,000.

That’s how much today’s 11th annual B100 Basics for Babies event at Hotel 540 raised.

All the proceeds help the Kamloops Food Bank provide for their youngest clients – 1,000 of which are under two years old.

In a tweet, the Kamloops Food Bank called the event “incredible” and thanked locals “for continuing to support our community’s most vulnerable.”

On Thursday Bernadette Siracky, the food bank’s executive director, told CFJC Today that poverty affects infants in a way that “most people that live above the poverty line don’t quite understand.”
