New home construction strong in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — There’s been a significant increase in single family home construction throughout the city.

That from Marvin Kwiatkowski, Director of Development and Engineering Services for the City of Kamloops.

“Last year we were higher in renovations,” said Kwiatkowski. “This year we’re higher on single family starts in what’s really the bread-and-butter for the community in regards to employment so we’re very strong.”

The city has issued 186 residential permits for single family home startups so far this year compared to 121 last year.

Kwiatkowski says the downside to the boom is having enough labour.
