Amazon to open second office in Vancouver: but no, it’s not the coveted HQ2
VANCOUVER — Amazon will open a second corporate office in Vancouver, doubling its employee count in the western city, but it has yet to announce where the tech titan’s highly sought-after second headquarters will land.
The second office will create 1,000 jobs and the company expects to open the 150,000-square-foot (or about 14,000-square-metre) location in 2020.
“We’re so excited to be here and be growing,” said Jesse Dougherty, Amazon’s Vancouver site lead, during a Friday morning event at the company’s Vancouver office. “It’s thrilling.”
The Seattle-based company’s first Vancouver office opened in 2015 and now employs more than 1,000 people, mostly software developers.
