KAMLOOPS — Halloween isn’t officially until next Tuesday, but there’s plenty of spooky activities for Kamloopsians to take part in this weekend. If you’re looking for a good scare, the 6th annual Barn-Haunt-Vale Scare Yard will be your best bet. But be warned, it’s not for the faint of heart.

Some people go all out with Christmas decorations, for Shannon Weitzel, Halloween is his holiday.

Weitzel, the property’s “Scarekeeper,” has been working hard for a couple of months now, getting his Barnhartvale property ready for a spooky weekend.

“When we moved out here, my daughter saw the potential to have this property turn into some bigger, spooky shenanigans,” Wentzel explained.

This is the sixth year of “Barn-haunt-vale”, and for the past five years, the Weitzel family has been using the event to drum up donations for a good cause.

“We thought if we’re going to do it big, we might as well support a charity while we’re at it, and that charity is the Kamloops Food Bank,” Wentzel explained. “Over the past five years… it’s been close to $5,000 and 5,000 lbs of food we’ve donated.”

“Barn-haunt-vale” is set to scare this weekend, kicking off Friday at 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm, and running the same time Saturday. Weitzel says there are enough scares for the whole family.

You can visit Barn-haunt-vale at 4938 Uplands Drive.
