WolfPack women’s basketball drops exhibition decision to Regina

CALGARY, AB — The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s basketball team opened up an exhibition tournament in Calgary, Alberta on a losing note.

The WolfPack fell 75-47 to the University of Regina Cougars on Friday (Oct 20)

Regina was up 19-7 after the first quarter and held a 38-21 advantage at the half.  Carolina Goncalves led the way with 25 points. Charlotte Kol added 14 points while Avery Pearce had 13.

TRU’s top scorer was rookie Megan Rouault (Vernon, BC) with eight points. Michelle Bos (Surrey, BC) added six points.

“We competed in the 2nd and 4th but their transition killed us in the 1st and 3rd, “ stated TRU head coach Scott Reeves. “ We have to put together a full 40 mins tomorrow”

Thompson Rivers will meet the UBC Thunderbirds on Saturday (Oct 21). They will then return home to begin preparing for their 2017-18 Canada West regular season and home opener. That will be Friday, October 27 th at the Tournament Capital Centre when they entertain the MacEwan University Griffins of Edmonton, Alberta. Tip off will be 6 pm.
