Kamloops man brought back to life following bureaucratic mix-up

KAMLOOPS — A happy ending to an extremely frustrating week for a Kamloops man.

65 year old Bryan Kupiak has been brought back to life after being declared dead by the federal government.

His nightmare began when his social insurance number was mixed up with his mother’s following her death last month.

Kupiak says the notification came in the form of an Old Age Security statement addressed to Kupiak’s estate. 

He says his social insurance number was switched with his mother’s on her statement of death.

The bureacratic mix-up temporarily cost Kupiak all of his benefits, including his pension.

However with the assistance of Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo MP Cathy McLeod’s office, the problem was fixed.

“He is now pleased to announce he is officially alive again and sent beautiful roses to my staff thanking them for the resuscitation,” read a tweet from McLeod.
