Search continues for missing man in Okanagan Lake

VERNON — The search continued yesterday in North Okanagan Lake in Vernon for a man who ran into the water trying to get away from police early Saturday morning.

RCMP had confronted the man after complaints someone had tried to break into a home, then tried to steal a dinghy from a shed.

Police allege he became aggressive with officers and ran off towards the lake.

They then heard a splashing noise and a saw a person swimming away, go under and not come back up. 

Police divers searched into Sunday, but there’s no word if any sign of the man was found.
