KAMLOOPS — The first major snow of the season fell on the Kamloops area Friday morning.

While flakes were melting as they hit the ground early in the morning, they began to accumulate at higher elevations as the morning wore on.

The Coquihalla Highway was closed southbound just outside of Kamloops due to treacherous conditions, but has since re-opened.
