Troubling new overdose death stats released for BC, Kamloops

VICTORIA — The latest data from the BC Coroner’s Service shows Kamloops is on pace to exceed its overdose death total from last year.

32 people died in Kamloops due to illicit drug overdoses from January to the end of August this year.

43 people died from drug overdoses in the city all of 2016.

Meantime, the province-wide total has now exceeded 1,000 at 1,013.

After three consecutive months of declining totals, the August total was up slightly from the month previous, from 106 to 113.
