No growth on Lac Le Jeune wildfire

KAMLOOPS — A wildfire that broke out south of Kamloops Monday isn’t expected to grow in size.

B.C. Wildfire Service Information Officer Justine Hunse says the Hull Hill fire, located near Lac Le Jeune, remains at 0.65 hectares.

“We’re not expecting it to grow beyond its pre-determined boundaries,” said Hunse.  “We have seven firefighters out there this morning working on putting it out.”

While overall fire activity has died down, Hunse says the province isn’t out of the clear just yet.

“The fire danger rating is still high throughout most areas of the Kamloops Fire Centre,” said Hunse. “We’re asking the public to remain vigilant with any activities out there that could potentially start a new wildfire as it’s evident that new fires can still be started in late September.”
