VANCOUVER —  B-C’s film industry has reached an all-time high with an estimated 2.6 billion spent in the 2016-2017 fiscal year.

The provincial government says these latest figures represent a 35 per cent increase over budgeted production spending the previous year.

It says Creative B-C — the independent agency responsible for promoting the development of creative industries including film — approved 338 tax-credit certifications this year.

Prem Gill, chief executive officer for Creative B-C, says the province has become a global player in the motion picture industry and has earned a reputation for excellence.
