Province set to rescind off-roading ban Wednesday

KAMLOOPS — Yet another sign this year’s wildfire season is drawing to a close.

This as the provincial government is getting set to rescind its ban on off-road vehicles effective at noon on Wednesday on Crown land throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre, Kamloops Fire Centre and Southeast Fire Centre.

“Cooler weather conditions and recent precipitation have reduced the flammability of fine fuels in these regions, which has signficantly reduced the chance of a wildfire starting from a spark or a hot engine,” the BC Wildfire Service said in a statement today.

However it reminds the public that some area restrictions are still in effect on Crown land around large wildfires, including around the Elephant Hill fire north of Cache Creek.
