QUOTES:

TRU head coach Kelly Shantz:

On game: “So many positives coming out of the day for us. We battled for 90 minutes, we raised our awareness, our compete level and our intensity. We talked a lot this week about getting beyond this ‘young team reputation’ and playing like veterans and going hard. We still make two or three catastrophic mistakes that they took advantage. But we were far more into the game than we were last weekend. I am really proud of the girls.  I think we were a little unlucky on the day. Emerson Hanson scored in the first half but it was called back offside (Hanson playing her first Canada West match).  Emerson hit the cross bar in the second half. In general, a much better effort and we are looking more like a team. I know we can build on this going forward into Regina tomorrow.”

On player of the game: “I thought our player of the game was Cassie Morris (2nd year, Kamloops, BC)  She was solid in the midfield. We moved her to the backline where she played last year.  She continues to show herself as a 90 minute prolific player. She had a very strong powerful day.

On goalkeeping: “Dannielle Robertson was solid in goal. A little tentative off the line a couple of times but made a couple of big saves. She is starting to come around really well like the potential she has.”
