KAMLOOPS — Work on the new fieldhouse at the Tournament Capital Centre is quickly nearing completion.

Capital Projects Manager Darren Crundwell says the center’s new Olympic-style track is fully installed and complete.

Crews are now focusing on finishing and painting the new hardwood courts that were installed as part of the $1.86 million dollar project.

“It’s coming along well,” said Crundwell. “The Mondo track is done. All of the hardwood is in but now they’re sanding it twice and then they’ll paint the lines and put two coats of finish on the floor.”

The TCC has been closed since June in order for the city to complete the project.

Crundwell says workers will also spend the next few weeks removing construction dust from the ceilings and walls.

The new track is expected to reopen the end of the month.

“We’ve always communicated September 2017 for completion,” said Crundwell. “We knew it would be closer to the end of the month and that’s what we’re hoping for. September 30th will be our latest opening date.”
