KAMLOOPS — One of the largest wildfires in B.C. is now 100 per cent contained.

The BC Wildfire Service says crews have finally got a handle on the massive 239,000 hectare Hanceville-Riske Creek fire located approximately 60 kilometres southwest of Williams Lake.

“Today, crews will continue to action hotspots detected by infrared scans, as well as mop up and patrol,” it said in a statement on their website. “Crews continue to demob gear and remove structural protection units. Fallers work to remove hazardous trees.”

The fire was sparked by lightning on July 8. An evacuation alert remains in effect for a number of properties in the area. For information on those alerts go to www.cariboord.bc.ca.
